Meeting Point: Bedok Town Square

Makan Dreaming is a musical whirlwind that turns the spotlight on hawker culture in Singapore. Watch the evolution of hawking, from the street hawkers of the 1960s to the architecturally inspiring hawker centres of today.

Meet a fantastic mix of characters, like Kong, the early immigrant who set up his stall by the Singapore river, Rajesh Raj, whose colourful, syrupy ice balls are a hit with the kids, Alice the town cleansing superintendent, with her chorus of dancing cleaners, the earnest trio from the Hawker Inquiry Commission, and May Fang, a fourth generation hawker carrying on the tradition with her family’s recipe. Sing along, dance along and celebrate everything we love about hawker centres and hawker food in this tasty musical extravaganza, Makan Dreaming!
